The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feng Shui (3rd Edition) |
This guide is certainly not aimed at idiots. Recent years have seen a surge of 'how to' books on Feng Shui, but this American Masterpiece tops the lot - it peels away the layers of superstition and myth permeating the modern practice. This is a book to dip in and out of rather than sit down for a chronological read. Be prepared to be distracted by the many topics covered. On the other hand, for anyone who wants to read well presented material presented in a logical order, this book is hard to beat. |

The
Complete Idiot's Guide to |
The Complete Idiot's
Guide to the I Ching addresses many questions: What is the I Ching? Who
wrote it? How does it work? How is an oracle written 3,00 years ago
relevant to the modern world? How can I use the I Ching to answer a
question, concern, or dilemma? How does the I Ching relate to chaos
theory, theoretical physics, psychology, and mathematics? In The Complete Idiot's Guide to the I Ching, you'll learn that this revered work is not just a silly book of fortune-telling, a superstitious relic catering to the gullible and vulnerable. Rather, you'll come to understand the I Ching is a profound work grounded in science and mathematics. That somehow, magically and mysteriously, it connects us with the universe (or what you may choose to call the great unknown, the sea of consciousness, the spirit world, God) to provide a meaningful answer that speaks to our situation. |

Guide to the |
Published first in 1980, this best-selling guide to the I Ching is used and regarded by its ten-thousands of readers as an oracle that has made the I Ching truly understandable and applicable to everyday life. Carol Anthony's interpretations are based on years of experience in being taught by the Sage who speaks through the I Ching itself. It is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Croatian.

Love, an Inner Connection: Based on Principles Drawn from the I Ching |
This book continuously receives powerful acclaim, as the volume and quality of reader responses show. To quote one reader: "...after 50 years of reading self-help books to deal with resistance in my husband, your book has turned the situation around to almost an utopian relationship. It wasn't easy but your book, together with using your Guide to the I Ching, gave me the answers that worked."
|
The Philosophy |
This book presents the "viewpoint" of the Sage which speaks through the I Ching about many matters. It is the result of the author's consulting the I Ching for many years, and working with it in I Ching groups. It gives an overview of the Sage-Student relationship, and what the I Ching means by special expressions such as the Superior Man (the true self), the Inferior Man (the ego-self-image) the "superiors" (qualities of character such as the capacity for patience, tolerance, courage, and perseverance), and the "inferiors" (elements of the body self which "speak" in phrases such as "I am hungry," or "I am tired"). This book shows that the "work" one does with the I Ching is to help us de-program the fears and doubts which make us unable to give expression to our true (higher) nature. The I Ching, this book shows, acts as a sort of mirror to our unconscious, reinforcing what we "know" at the deepest level, and discrediting the presumptions and arrogance of the false self (ego-self-image) which leads us into all the dead-ends which make us feel that life has no purpose. In a plain, easy-to-read English style, in an easy-to-understand language, this book grounds the reader in Eastern concepts which are unfamiliar to the Western mind. |

This beautifully written book offers instruction and inspiration to those who want to integrate altars into their daily lives. Author Denise Linn (Sacred Space, Quest, Sacred Legacies) helps readers become more conscious of what they are already unconsciously doing: creating altars in the kitchen corners, on shelves, and in other everyday spaces in their homes. "The urge to create sacred spaces is so deep in the human psyche that, even when there is no formalized intent to make an altar, we often create them subconsciously by the way we gather our photos on a piano, or by the way we carefully arrange objects on a desk or around a computer," Linn writes. |

Understanding |
The West's foremost translator of the I Ching, Richard Wilhelm thought deeply about how contemporary readers could benefit from this ancient work and its perennially valid insights into change and chance. For him and for his son, Hellmut Wilhelm, the Book of Changes represented not just a mysterious book of oracles or a notable source of the Taoist and Confucian philosophies. In their hands, it emerges, as it did for C. G. Jung, as a vital key to humanity's age-old collective unconscious. Here the observations of the Wilhelms are combined in a volume that will reward specialists and aficionados with its treatment of historical context-and that will serve also as an introduction to the I Ching and the meaning of its famous hexagrams. |
